This might sound strange, but I love the smell of those old electronics. There really isn't anything like it. I've often wondered what Mr. Carlson's lab must smell like with all that old equipment in it... Every once in a while he'll comment as he opens up some piece of gear about the smell that comes out of it, and I know exactly what he means. I highly doubt anyone, in 50 years, will be reminiscing about the smell of an iPhone... haha
I'm pretty sure my grandparents had a similar, if not the same '45 player like your RCA Victrola with the red cap on top of the spindle - there is something very familiar about it... I have a few record players I keep on my workbench for times when I feel like pulling out an LP or two while I work. I don't have many myself, but my father has a room lined floor to ceiling with albums.

The main platform for the 45 player was used by RCA in a lot of different units, for quite a few years. Their popularity has created a small cottage industry of folks making and rebuilding parts for them, a bit like our little computers.
The small of old electronics is a pretty unique smell, I find it's become a good smell for me, cause I know some fun is coming soon.
