Happy Saturday, all. I have recently acquired a Lt. Kernal clone, and am thinking that this might be the perfect place to test it out; As yet I have done naught but to look at it, wanting to be able to devote the appropriate quantity of time to its exploration rather than puttering about it here and there with huge spans of time in-between wherein to forget where I'd left off or what I was doing. If I remember correctly, the Judith Umbach library was the one that had changed out its display (TV) and the new one was fairly "unfriendly" to retro tech composite signals. I can bring an LCD monitor with a composite input if need be. Do any of you have Lt. Kernals or experience with such? It is a thing wholly new to me and although I got to see X-Tec's amazing collection down in Florida this summer, including a number of which are running his various Bulletin Board Systems, I've only really worked on emulated versions of them. I am therefore hoping that there may be some at the meeting who can supply knowledge and advice - but if not, then we can explore and learn about it together!

Hi John, Yes the new tv there is not friendly to our little machines. I have picked up a converter that will hopefully work for us, if not, I will also have my little tv there just to be sure we have something !

Fantastic. Either way, we should be able to play with some hardware at this meeting! I'm putting together a bin to bring today. Looking forward to it!

For those of you who were unable to attend the last CCUG meeting of 2023, not only did you miss out on some interesting Commodore show-and-tellerie, but you also missed out on some great Christmas baking and snacks by Cheryl! Gislain demonstrated a PS/2 mouse working on a Commodore 64 in GEOS, along with several other goodies packed onto his stack of cartridges. He also showed how you could print documents and images from within GEOS to .png files on a microSD card.
Lastly, I logged into a couple of Commodore Bulletin Board Systems and demonstrated a few of the online games that I play there pretty regularly, including Golf Solitaire, The Great White Card Game, and the NFL Football Bookie.
For reference, there is a list of Commodore Bulletin Boards still in existence that can be found here: cbbsoutpost.servebbs.comThe boards I accessed were these:
The Bat's Den: catracing.org Port 6400 Commodore Image 2: cib.dyndns.org Port 6401
We had a newcomer drop by who had only discovered the CCUG by accident the day before after looking for some information about VIC-20's, and sometimes that's all it takes! Welcome Jayden, and don't forget to bring your VIC-20's down to the next meeting so we can try to fix them up and get them working with you.
For everyone else, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and I look forward to seeing everyone in 2024!
