Hi all! First post here. Glad to find a local users group I'm originally from Spain, the first computer I used was a ZX Sinclair Spectrum. I knew about Commodore but all my friends had Speccies. Anyway, I'm very interested on retro consoles and computers. I've seen some C64s in eBay and I was wondering if you happen to know anyone that can refurbish them, recapping will probably be a must with any of those. Also, if there are any local C64s for purchase, I'll definitely go that route so please let me know. Thank you!

Welcome kahuna !
Commodore machines are starting to get harder to find, but they're still around. Most of the older machines will work fine without being recapped, more often power supplies and SID chips are the big failure points. In their later years Commodore started using cheaper components, from what I have read/heard, so capacitor failures are common on Amiga computers. I'm sure there are many who would disagree with me, but I have yet to have to replace any in my machines. As for someone that can repair/refurb, a couple of our members are certainly qualified. Hopefully they will add in a little of their knowledge.
Again, welcome, hopefully you can make it to a meeting or two !
Cheers Blaine
