Any creative people out there feel like making a banner to advertise the club on the new Commodore banner exchange ?
cbm8bit.com has apparently shut down, no one seems to know why or when or if it will be back.
So, Marcel from Commodoregames.net has started a new banner exchange.
If you're feeling creative, we need a 500 by 80 banner for the club to join the new exchange.
Cheers, Blaine

I did a whois on the domain, and it looks like it was just updated in February: Domain Name: CBM8BIT.COM Registrar WHOIS Server: whois.godaddy.com Updated Date: 2023-02-08T02:15:04Z Creation Date: 2007-11-07T01:19:41Z Registry Expiry Date: 2023-11-07T01:19:41Z Registrar: GoDaddy.com, LLC
Not knowing who the domain was registered to before, I can't say if it was just transferred to GoDaddy or if it was simply renewed, but if it was simply renewed, it seems less likely that the content would have been removed from the server, making me think that it may have been transferred instead.
In any case, I may try my hand at a banner...

Hi John, looks good to me ! I added it to this post as well, for some reason it didn't want to show up on your post.

That banner pops! Regarding the image not appearing in the post, I’ve noticed that John’s Cube Inc. logo doesn’t load either. I believe it has to do with a “mixed content” issue. Those images are being requested as http from John’s server, rather than being requested using https, like the forum page. developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/Security/Mixed_content

Thanks for that feedback, Splorp! About the logo not appearing, here is a quick test: I'll embed the logo twice: In my browser (Firefox 110.0 64-bit) I see both logos - what do YOU see?

I’m not seeing them here.
My main browser is Vivaldi (5.7.2921.63) which uses Chromium (110.0.5481.181)
Tested in Firefox 111.0 as well … no images either.

Interesting. Do you see the page hit counter at the bottom of the page, between the (empty) banner exchange window and the text "This forum was created and is maintained by CalgaryCommodore.ca."?

Hi John, Looks like there might be something wrong with your ssl certificate. As soon as I hit the advanced button and then hit the proceed anyway button, all of the pictures starting showing up where they hadn't before. A maybe anyway.

Ah yes, that makes sense. I am my own Certificate Authority, and have signed all of my own SSL certificates. If you haven't added my CA cert to your trusted list of CA Authorities, you get the "Invalid CA" warning you show there. Here is my CA Certificate if you care to add it:

Alright... how about now? I set up Let's Encrypt on a whole whack of my domains, including the ones I have been using to host the images I post to this forum. With a little luck, you should be able to see them now without any changes. Being my own certificate authority is great, but sometimes it's just easier to conform to the way [everyone else] is doing something. Not a hill I'm going to die on...

Fantastic! I am glad to hear it. Now I will feel more at ease about posting pictures knowing that people can actually see them! I bet a lot of my posts make more sense now that you can actually see what I am talking about! Hahaha. So on the matter of the banner, did that get submitted? I see there are banners appearing below again, so it looks like Blaine got the site pointed to the new banner exchange. I realize my first kick at the cat really didn't say anything at all about our little club, except that it has been around for 40 years. What would you like people to know about the CCUG?
Who is the Calgary Commodore Users Group in your mind?
What makes this group important / special to you?
