RCA 2-ES-38, released in 1952 by RCA Victor, the actual turntable was made by Voice Of Music, the amplifier and chassis was made by RCA. Just doing a little dance of joy, after a couple more hours of work, this record player is finishing it's first record in probably 2 or 3 decades ! The record changer is still a little hit and miss, a series of levers and mechanisms determine the size of the record and once in a while, it will think the second record is a 7 inch instead of a 12 inch. It seems to get the first record right, but the second is sometimes wrong. I starting to think it may just be wear in the mechanism, everything seems to be free moving. Not a big deal to me, I'm happy to have it up and running and sounding pretty good as well. It was a completely broken mess when I got it. Now to see if I can clean up the outside a little.

These guys are really interesting, long live mechanical parts! It is amazing how well built these old players and radios are, Sadly I fear the cool new toys of today won't be very repairable or usable 75 years from now.
